People talk about the "thick" sound of old analog synth filters. As a result, they are widely copied. But if you want a filter that sounds REALLY special and good, forget the solid-state imitations or the hokey "virtual analog" business - - you need a TM-2. It's real--all natural, all tube. Not only does it sound creamy and thick, it makes a great filter effect for the TM-1. The TM-2 is also ideal for giving weight and power to drum machines and bass lines in techno music or remixes. OR it works as a wah pedal, by plugging in any standard expression pedal. It's a sound you JUST CAN'T GET from other filters on the market! The TM-2 consists of two twin-t bandpass filters in parallel. Unlike any other such filter on the market, these filters use vacuum-tube pentodes.. NO semiconductors. The two filters have their resonant frequencies spaced 2 octaves apart--one filters the all-important midrange, the other filters bass. They are voltage-control-tuned with a custom-made "Vactrol" type dual optocoupler. Resonance or sharpness for the filters is adjustable. The filter outputs pass through an additional pentode which may be used as a VCA for electronic-music effects. (TM-2 may be used only as a tube VCA by turning down the filter resonance.) Output signal is buffered, so it can drive any line-level input."
> tech specs Frequency response less than 10 Hz to greater than 40 kHz. Distortion from less than 0.1% to greater than 20%, depending on input signal. Filter sweep range (approx): lower 80-200 Hz, upper 300-1000 Hz. Filter peaking from Q less than 2 to oscillation. Voltage gain approx. 5 with RESONANCE set to minimum and INPUT LEVEL set to maximum. Hum and noise less than 0.5 mV.
Inputs: phone jacks for audio input; optional inputs for filter center-frequency CV, and for VCA CV. Center-frequency CV jack accepts control voltage OR any industry-standard expression pedal with TRS connections (examples: Fatar VP26, Korg EXP2, Kurzweil CC1, Moogerfooger EP-1, Roland EV5, Yamaha FC7, etc.) Output: phone jack, audio, mono, 1k ohm impedance. Power input 10v AC to 12v AC, 50/60 Hz, 0.8 amp max at idle. |
