The sound of the lesser known 80s synthesis approaches as dual-oscillator for Eurorack. The CIZZLE by ALM is based on Phase Distortion Synthesis and has a lot to offer.
CIZZLE captures the sound of the Casio CZ series and combines it with some new features that integrate well into the Eurorack format.
Phase Distortion (PD) uses two sine waves, one of which is altered in phase by the other. The modulation of the phase is nonlinear, causing the wave to traverse unusual, sometimes drastic paths. The results are distinctive and give you a wide range of sounds. From warm and soft pads to harsh and noisy percussion.
CIZZLE is loaded with two of these PD oscillators, both fully voltage-controlled and even equipped with an integrated VCA each. The PD algorithms are morphable and also feature a CV input. The two oscillators have different specializations and can be used together or completely separately.
The additional Noise, Ring Modulation, and Resonance (Rez) modes for oscillator B bring you gentle ambient sounds, Detroit techno chords, Reese-style basses, and that unique faux-resonance squelch sound. The additional chord mode completes the CZ package, allowing for everything from that era. A great module that offers a huge range of sounds and can do more than just mimic.
