Timber from Bastl Instruments is a sound processing module with an overdrive and a Serge style wavefolding circuit. Each section offers an individual selection of flavors thanks to switches, but they share the same controls and CV inputs. A voltage controlled crossfader allows to blend between the different circuits or between one of them and the clean input signal. The module can produce rich timbres by adding harmonics to your sounds, but can also be used as a VCA or crossfader. Timber lets you manipulate the sound in many ways!
The Wave Driver section (I) comprises an overdrive with Soft, Mid and Hard setting using a three-way switch. Additionaly this sections provides a simple wavefolder which can be set to High or Low, or completely disabled in the NO position.
The Wave Folder section (II) features a serge style wavefolder with three different settings. It has a configuration switch which can either activate clean 4 stage wavefolding in the OK position or highly asymmetric folding stage in the KO position that provides strange metallic character. The NO position provides only the very last overdrive-folding stage.
A voltage controlled crossfader allows to fade between both sections or between one of them and the clean input signal.
Both circuits share the same control voltages: the Shape which sets the input amplification before the wave shaping circuit and the Symmetry control which adds voltage offset to the input signal to provide various asymmetric overdrives or wave folding sounds. There is also a voltage FBK CV input which when provided with positive voltages feeds respective portion of the output signal back to the input which results in chaotic and aggressive behaviours.
