The Body Synths Metal Fetishist is a percussion synthesizer that aims to be the final boss for your warm sounding analog vintage Schmuckstück.
The standalone unit is fully digital and celebrates the distinctive qualities that digital synthesis can offer. The sound engine includes a single oscillator, a white noise source, a resonant multi-mode filter and a digital distortion section featuring down-sampling and overdrive. With that it can produce Kicks, harsh Noise, fuzzy Drones, digital Glitches and plucky microtonal Melodies.
You can play your Metal Fetishist either by the nice red button (How tempting it is to press that thing!), by the external trigger input, or by the internal random-based sequencer for some instant digital percussion madness. This is the part of the instrument that transforms the Metal Fetishist into an autonomous beat-creator for rhythm discovery and percussive sound design.
Form your sounds and sequences in combination with Random Step Mod, Random Skips and the STEPS knob. The Random Step Mod section sends random values of modulation to pitch, the amount of noise or the filter cut-off value, while the modulation amount can be selected manually. The Random Skips control decides if the current step will trigger or not, based on the amount selected. The biggest knob on the Metal Fetishist is called STEPS. It lets you loop the random patterns in sequence lengths of 2, 4, 8, 10, 16 or 32. Turn this knob to the Off position for random sequences and if you like something you hear lock it with a twist of the STEPS knob!
The Metal Fetishist is a pretty interesting machine for easy and instant live-composition. The sound it generates can be harsh and brutally-digital or simply nice, textured and lo-fi, wonderful! When in doubt, be brave, try it!
