mki x es.EDU DIY Noise/S&H is a super-simple Noise/S&H-module, upgraded with useful additional features.
Erica Synths and Moritz Klein have developed a series of educational DIY kits under the brand name mki x es.EDU with one specific goal in mind; to teach people with little-to-no prior experience how to design analog synthesizer circuits from scratch. What you’ll find in the box is not simply meant to be soldered together and then disappear in your rack. Instead, they want to take you through the circuit design process step by step, explaining every choice they’ve made and how it impacts the finished module.
Whether self-sequencing, a dose of randomness for filter sweeps, or indecently coarse analog bitcrushing; a sample & hold circuit can provide the secret ingredient for your patch and make it distinctive. EDU DIY Noise/S&H is a super-simple JFET-based implementation, upgraded with additional features like an internal clock generator or a dedicated slew output, which is perfect. Of course, we need an interesting input for sampling – that’s why you often find Sample&Hold modules with an integrated noise generator. The one Noise/S&H offers pink and blue noise in addition to the standard white noise.
Please note: The self-assembly kit contains all parts needed to build this module. It is a beginner kit, so you only need some previous knowledge and simple assembly tools (small screwdriver, soldering iron, etc.). Unfortunately, we can not assist in assembling/soldering the kit and can not be responsible if the kit does not work after self-assembly.
