Erica Synths has extracted the sonic core of their PĒRKONS HD-01 drum machine and transformed it into a new eurorack module — Perkons Voice.

The Perkons Voice builds its sounds through a hybrid architecture – digital algorithms feeding into analog circuits. It comes packed with 31 sound algorithms that range from bread-and-butter drum synthesis to the more out-there experimental stuff. Each algorithm brings two dedicated parameters alongside the standard tune, decay, cutoff and drive controls. The analog multimode filter and overdrive stage is there to add some extra grit and texture to your otherwise perhaps all too pristine digital source.

The module nicely balances depth with immediacy. While it can store 99 presets, the hands-on controls and clear LED display keeps things direct and tactile. The mono mode is handy for drum duties, while its poly mode allows up to 4 simultaneous voices. For drone enthusiasts, maxing out the decay unlocks continuous sound generation.

CV inputs for all crucial parameters make it ready to integrate with sequencers and modulation sources. An accent input adds velocity sensitivity, while the patch CV input can switch between presets on the fly.
