The Expert Sleepers ES-10 Audio/CV interface — The ADAT highway to your computer and back!
Expert Sleepers has a long history of creating interfaces that bridge the gap between the world of Eurorack and your DAW. Beginning with the ES-3, released in 2011. The ES-3 quickly became a mainstay for those seeking to integrate their digital and analog systems, offering an 8-channel ADAT-to-CV interface. This was followed by the ES-6 and ES-7, which further expanded its input capabilities. The ES-8 featured 4 inputs and 8 outputs with the handy addition of running it all over class-compliant USB 2.0. In 2019 they released the ES-9, this time as a full on beast-mode version with 16-in/16-out running through USB-C, the interface to rule them all so to speak.
Fast forward to today, and we have the slightly “lighter” ES-10, the latest in the ES-lineage of interfaces. The ES-10 combines the functionality of the ES-3, ES-6, and ES-7 but with some nice improvements — fewer HP, lower power consumption, and the option to select between modular and line-level operation individually for each input. There’s also something to be said about the audio quality which has been improved as well. It now features high-quality AKM DACs often revered by anyone who knows a thing or two about high quality converters. If more inputs are needed there’s the ES-5 expansion module. Keep in mind that there’s no USB and that it relies on an ADAT connection in order to function.
These interfaces are all pretty straightforward, if you want to send audio or CV to and through the digital realm you’d be hard pressed to find a better solution. The ES-10 now does this in a much smaller footprint – definitely recommended, as long you have a way to connect that ADAT cable.
