Echo Cinematic by Knobula brings the classic sounds of 80’s Jamaican dub echoes straight to your Eurorack.
Dive into the dub-inspired world of the Echo Cinematic by Knobula. This stereo effects module packs EQ, Delay, and Reverb into one well laid out module. Inspired by the 1980s Jamaican dub scene, Echo Cinematic brings the vibe of analog tape delay-ay-ay-s right into your Eurorack setup. What’s there not to love?
Back in the day, engineers used to patch analog tape delays into a mixing desk, tweak the EQ and FX sends, and create these evolving rhythmic textures – a feedback loop that was always on the edge of self-oscillation. Echo Cinematic is built around that very same concept. Along the reverb, delay and EQ you also get a flexible resonant filter and five automation sources built right in.
Your automation options are as follows – you get two LFOs for both EQ and delay modulation. There is a 30-second knob recorder capable of simultaneously controlling every knob on the front panel (interesting!). Additionally, you have two external CV inputs, instantly assignable to any control as you insert a patch cable.
With three distinct filter types—high/low-pass, peak/notch, and classic comb filter—you are free to shape your sound in a myriad of ways. These filters can be inserted into the feedback loop, the delay output, or the entire signal path, including the dry signal – flexible to say the least!
The delay section gives you up to two seconds of delay time with a tap function that can sync to your beat. There’s also a 24-bit stereo reverb to add those lush, immersive sounds. It can deliver anything from dull halls to bright cathedral spaces with near infinite decay!
All in all – Echo Cinematic is a well thought-out, flexible module perfect for ambient washes or rhythmic dub echoes. Hard not to like!
