Dystorpia is a fuzz pedal without special transistors, diodes r vintage tubes – it’s a fuzz for the future – all digital, all good.
Noise Engineering already proved to make great distortion modules for Eurorack. The adaption of their idea of digital overdrives into pedal form was a logical step. While the Dystorpia pedal is aimed at guitarists, it is just as perfectly suited for synths!
Pura and Fold do the most work. Fold creates grit and gnarl, while it interacts with Pura, a multi-band full-wave rectifier that adds a harmonic fuzz. With Tone and Mid Band you adjust the overall frequency spectrum to whatever is suitable for what you are creating. With the additional two switches you get even more tone shaping possibilities. You need more weigth in your sound? – set the DOOM switch to Sub or Blown. ENV enables an envelope that shapes the output to match the input dynamics through the distortion.
We all know lots of distortion can cause noise. Dystorpia lets you fight it with a smart Noise Gate that lowers the output level when there is no input. For more creative playing you can enable the Freeze foot switch. It loops a sound – tap the button once to latch or hold down for momentary-like effects.
Dystorpia has a huge palette of sound shaping abilities. It is versatile and engaging, give it a try!
