Ohmforce’s Bohm Groove — Expander Module for Bohm That Adds a Secondary Ghost-Kick Voice
Bohm Groove by OhmForce transforms the already excellent Bohm kick module into a proper rhythm engine. This 10HP expander module introduces a secondary ghost-kick voice triggered by clock divisions, essentially turning your singular kicks into evolving rhythmic patterns. The four TAP volume controls correspond directly to 16th-note subdivisions, giving you immediate hands-on control over which beats receive emphasis. It’s particularly effective for building those classic techno rumbles, where a ghost kick on the off-beat creates that characteristic forward momentum.
With a few simple controls with high “fun factor” you’re able to affect the expander rumbles in great detail. For instance, the LENGTH parameter adjusts how long each tap sustains, letting you go from short punctuations to extended sub-bass textures that weave between your main kicks. The COLOR control is able to dramatically reshape the timbre of your secondary voice, really nice for creating contrast against your primary kick. All parameters accept CV input, with FX and COLOR featuring dedicated attenuverters. There’s also a TAPS CV system that uses the input to control all three TAP values simultaneously with a single voltage source, while the output lets you repurpose the envelope generated by the TAPS for other modules.
There’s more than meets the eye in here, [for any kick enthusiasts] the whole Bohm system is just simply fun to work with. When four-on-the-floor isn’t enough, this module delivers the rhythmic complexity that makes dance floors move. Simple enough for quick tweaks, deep enough for evolving kick patterns that transform your patches from static thumps to living, breathing grooves. Just try it already! 🙂
