Pittsburgh Modular’s Taiga is a powerful semi-modular that weighs in with a unique combination of features.

Taiga is a really exciting instrument, which is interesting for beginners as well as Eurorack veterans due to its semi-modular form. You get a monophonic monster, with three individual oscillators, two full ADSR envelopes, a warm multimode filter, as well as a dynamic controller, which makes the sonic character of low-pass gates possible.

The three oscillators offer beyond the normal waveforms the possibility to play with a highly complex sound palette because there are many waveshaping options, FM and waveform-combination available. The “No-Dead-Spots” filter has low-pass, band-pass and high-pass, and can of course combine these filter modes. For modulation, there is a sample & hold with integrated noise, two ADSR envelopes and an LFO with square- and triangle-waves. Exciting is Taiga’s Dynamic section, which replaces the traditional VCA. The Dynamic section allows for simultaneous manipulation of amplitude and harmonic content, familiar from lowpass gates. This allows for a warm and organic sound (à la Buchla).

Taiga is internally provided with a prefabricated signal path, which makes patching not necessary. However, it is possible for you sound-explorers to deeply tweak the sound by using the many patch points.
