Konin is a great utility for proper gain staging within your system, as some patches simply fall apart without it. The module addresses this with two distinct channels. Section A is a bipolar amplifier that can attenuate, invert, or boost signals by up to +20dB — handy for bringing line-level sources up to Eurorack standards or pushing modulation into overdrive territory. Section B takes the opposite approach: a precision attenuator with logarithmic response, capable of scaling signals down to 1% or even 0.01% of their original amplitude. Both inputs are normalled to internal voltage references, so with nothing patched in, Konin doubles as a dual manual voltage source spanning -10V to +10V.
A thoughtful detail: the bipolar section offers selectable response curves via a rear jumper. The “bent” setting near-flattens the center region of the knob travel (see diagram in the manual), making it easier to dial in precise zero points — something some users will appreciate. Bi-color LEDs on both channels provide instant visual feedback of voltage polarity and amplitude, glowing red for positive, green for negative, and blending colors when handling audio-rate signals. Konin is a solid choice if you need something to keep your levels in check within your rack.
