Koszalin is a digital stereo (!) Frequency Shifter with linear thru-0 and exponential FM. Shift goes from subtle to drastic. Feedback adds unusual, phaser-like timbres.

Koszalins full name is “1964 Stereo VC Frequency Shiftor”. 1964 happens to be the year where the highly influential engineer Harold Bode introduced the first analogue frequency shifter. This module is Xaoc’s take on this technique. As the module is digital, everything is inherently more stable. No tedious calibration, no bleedthrough plus Koszalin is stereo.

Subtle shifting in the lower Hz range is a great way of creating spatial effects. If you use larger shifts the signal will get more and more atonal/inharmonic. Try this with percussive sounds. If you use an External Oscillator into lin FM in you will get Thru-O FM for any stereo signal. In any of these scenarios, Regen/feedback will add interesting timbral variations.

List of features:

  • Shift control with 3 selectable control ranges (+/- 50 Hz, 500 Hz and 5 kHz)
  • Linear Through-Zero and exponential FM CV inputs
  • Regen/Feedback control with CV input. 3 selectable modes: Down, Up, Combi
  • Density control with CV input
  • Stereo input
  • Four Audio outputs for Down shift (Stereo) and Up shift (Stereo)
