Xaoc Devices’ Lublin — Dual VCA With a New Take on the Classic Vactrol Response
Xaoc Devices’ Lublin combines two high-quality VCAs with a unique ping function in a compact 6HP module. Rather than using actual Vactrols, Lublin employs a precise analog circuit that recreates their natural decay characteristics – but with more control.
A three-position switch on each channel selects between shortened, natural, and prolonged decay times, while a dedicated knob fine-tunes the response. Unlike lowpass gates, the module preserves your signal’s full frequency spectrum while controlling amplitude. This makes Lublin especially valuable for processing harmonically rich audio sources.
The DC-coupled signal path handles both audio and control voltages with exceptional clarity. Traditional envelope control is available through the exponential CV inputs, and a smart gain limiting circuit prevents unwanted distortion.
Lublin’s precise control over decay behaviors brings new life to the classic Vactrol response – from subtle modulations to snappy percussion. A nice new take on a beloved analog concept.
