The XOR Electronics Multi-IO Expander is the much-anticipated MIDI/i2C connectivity extension for the NerdSeq platform.
The Multi-IO Expander extends the MIDI capabilities of NerdSeq via three different, independent ports on the front panel: The USB host port can be used to connect standard MIDI keyboards or grid controllers to flexibly fire off your sequences. The module also has a USB device socket which, when connected to your computer, quickly creates a NerdSeq MIDI interface with corresponding input and output, ready to be used within your DAW.
There is also a pair of TRS-A MIDI sockets on the front that allow “classic” MIDI applications. Adapters for connecting MIDI gear with a DIN socket are included in the scope of delivery. In addition, two I2C ports are available, one of which is located on the front panel (TRS format) and one on the rear of the Eurorack module. These can be both leaders and followers. The pull-up resistor is selectable (none, 3.3V, 5V), currently the module is compatible with ER301, 16n Faderfox, distingEX, Just Friends and basic Teletype.
To facilitate fast editing, the multi-IO expander is equipped with an edit encoder for entering notes or other parameter values. Below this are three buttons (X,Y,Z) which can be used to call up three different input modes.
Attention: The XOR Electronics Multi-IO Expander is not a standalone product and only works within the Nerd-Seq platform.
